Freescale Semiconductor Inc. is losing another top executive.

Sumit Sadana, senior vice president, strategy and business development, is resigning from the semiconductor supplier, the second top executive to leave the company in just the last few weeks.

Freescale announced Sadana's departure in a terse filing with the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission on Friday (August 22), noting that the executive would be leaving the company sometime in September.

Sadana's resignation follows the August 5 announcement that Paul Grimme, senior vice president and head of Freescale's microcontroller solutions business, would be resigning, also effective in September.

The Austin, Texas-based company has lost a string of executives in recent months starting with the February departure of chairman and CEO Michel Mayer. Richard M. Beyer replaced him in March.

None of the three senior Freescale executives offered detailed reasons for their decision to leave the company.

Mayer led the company through its spin off from Motorola Inc. and an initial public offering in July 2004. He was also at the helms when a group of investors acquired the company two years later.
