Santa Clara, Calif.—NEC has developed a compact GaAs MMIC SP3T dubbed UPG2405T6Q that is designed for many wireless applications, including Near Field Communications (NFC), RFID, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and ZigBee/802.15.4.

Because of ability to support very low frequencies down to 10 MHz, the switch can support NFC and RFID wireless systems, which use these low bands, while still scaling up to support higher frequency bands for other applications.

Key technical specifications include frequency of 0.01 to 2.5 GHz; control voltage of +2.8V; insertion loss of 0.45dB typ. @ f = 1GHz and 0.60dB typ. @ f = 2.5GHz; ISL = 28dB typ. @ f=1GHz and 20dB typ. @ f=2.5GHz; and pin (0.1dB): +31 dBm typ.

Package size is 2.0 x 1.35 x 0.4mm size 10pin TSSON.

Pricing: $0.40 in quantities of 100,000.
Availability: The UPG2405T6Q RF switch is shipping now and is available through California Eastern Laboratories (CEL).
